Bootlegging 12" to mp3's as well now .

thats minor.
hardly anything on them and most the links dont work.

compared with the amountof places to download full grime mixtapes and albums; uk hip hop is suffering that much from downloads.

Yeah there wasn't that much on there , but there are others that are private .

What I'm saying is Chesters album was on Albumbase before it was in the shops . How can any artists try and shift their album when a load of people have already downloaded it .

Same thing happens with all the larger uk releases TY , Kyza , Klash , Brains . Thats a problem the bigger you get the more chance you have of getting bootlegged .

If ya can't sell it in HMV sell it outside HMV . Fuck em' ! I make most of my sales on Road I don't think its that bad , distributing yourself aint that hard, but you ain't gona get the supermarkets or HMV to take em' .

Its a big album , best of luck with it . Maybe try a re-release with another distributor .

I have to respect Chester for being a man and speaking his mind on many issues which could in fact be damaging for distribution and sales of his latest LP.

That's true integrity.

Word to all the comments about downloading. The internet in general is destroying music. Not just the music itself, but also music scenes.... before shit could be truly underground, but nowadays EVERYTHING is posted on the internet for everyone to see. How can anything be underground if any chump with an internet connection can find out about it?

Also there's a whole generation of kids in the UK with a "throwaway" attitude towards music thanks to free downloading. The future doesn't look too bright concerning music in the UK, and this is a big problem seems as music is one of the most influential art forms, particularly for children and teenagers. Couple this with every town and city looking the same (thanks to Tescos destroying all traditional shops with individual character), and you've got a generation of robot monoculture children.

The same people who download shit for free, are the same pricks who will drop comments like "I haven't heard a single good album for the last 3 years".
People who genuinely give a shit about music, don't download shit for free.

As for Cargo, them fools will say yes to pretty much anything. However, they like to push shit like Aesop Rock, Peanuts and Corn, and any other kind of fag rap. Very unreliable and very unprofessional too.

Overall, word to Chester's comments, fuck downloading, fuck Cargo, fuck Juno too for doing all they can to kill music (Tesco's style) for the sake of making a quick buck.

These bigger shops had a real problem with guys selling shite outside their shops so they decided to open up to selling mixtapes & more underground peoples releases. it seems to have worked a little. saying that I never get down to the west end.

Boombox is said to have a good relationship with HMV, even better than cargo (told to me by Cargo staff aswell as Boombox staff).

Whats the deal with Vans nowdays? a while back you could shift a load of units via guys who drive round shops selling. like a small mobile distro company, ive only seen Dance people do it recently.

@ Exzes - Let me know the gameplan,im intrigued to find out what your up to you scallywag.

@ Orig.nl - Props for the props.

@ Chester.P - As i said in my myspacey thing, ill be hitting you up for a signed copy of that CD. Louis sold me one of the first MFTC v1's way back at the Scala Kings X. plus does Dave Blanco live near you guys,i need to drop him some moolah over for some MFTC canvases I sold in the shop.

Do HMV do any good stuff yet though, mixtape wise? I tend to just see Grime or American tapes in there, picked up a few good ones, but rarely see the good UK stuff.

A van sounds like a good idea. Give a little spin of the tracks while selling em so people can hear what they buying and ish, probably why a lot of sales seem to go on at clubs.

And I'll PM you the details once I get it fully sorted. Was originally going to do a UKG promo agency, but thinking to expand in to Hip-Hop and other genres too to increase the scope, and get some other services such as distro and material production once the right deals are panned out.

http://www.exzessive-pr.co.uk is a provisional website, just something I threw up to get a little backing.

Go on my son!! if its on your chest it needs to be said.. maybe you should do a diss track and put it up for free download - more people will hear your point of view (plus mention to people to stop downloading independent artist - apart from the diss tune...)
Your still one of the front runners for battle / punchline lyrics.

the music industry is fucked up and has been for time. major labels are run by clueless idiots and artists get royally screwed unless they're very switched on and also very lucky. the behaviour of these labels somehow makes the shiftiness of some indie labels somehow justifiable to the indie snakes. but i don't agree ithat downloading is necessarily detrimental. if you rely on selling lps to make ends meet then yeah, you're fucked. in the face of this you should innovate tho. you can't download n awesome live show, you can't download a t-shirt, you can't download a piece of artwork (well, not as easily as you can a beat).

my point is just because people have recorded music and sold those recordings for time doesn't make that a given. i read an article about oink the other day by a recording artist, he described oink as a musical utopia, with no incentive for people to market it to sell it, suddenly the only factor was, what is the best music i can listen to. i mean shit van gogh didn't make any dough when he was alive, but people talk about him to this day.

I think personally that a LEGEND such as Chester P should be shown more respect, especially on here.

Seriously, the brotha dun put his heart and soul into everything he does and only speaks truth, not for self gain but for love of this artform.

You funny-style cats dissing him don't have a clue. I should feed you to my dogs for this foolishness.

BIG UP to you Sir- MR CHESTER P.

When that album drops I'll be bullying kids on road to buy it.

Shame people can't yet appreciate what is the truth.

Good luck with everything my bro. Your Karma will bring you only goodness
